Privacy notice

Last updated: 12 August 2026

The short version

ecopoetry.ie is a static website. No accounts, no login, no forms, no comments, no newsletter, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. It sets no cookies.

Nothing you do here is recorded by this site.

Two kinds of personal data are nonetheless involved, and both are set out below.

Who is responsible

Simon James Brady, as operator of ecopoetry.ie.

For any query about personal data, including a request relating to an entry about you, write via simonjamesbrady.com/contact. → Contact

Server logs held by the host

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. GitHub’s servers automatically receive and may log your IP address, the pages requested, the time, your browser type and any referring page.

Purpose: delivering the site and maintaining its security. Legal basis: legitimate interests in operating a secure, functioning website. Controller: GitHub, Inc. The editor has no access to these logs and does not use them. GitHub is based in the United States, and sets out its transfer safeguards in its own privacy statement. → GitHub privacy statement

Information about writers

This is a directory of poetry, so it names writers, editors and publishers in connection with their published work — titles, years, publishers, prizes, and links to their own sites.

Purpose: to describe and index published literary work and direct readers to it. Legal basis: legitimate interests in operating a literary reference resource. Processing for academic, artistic and literary expression also benefits from Article 85 GDPR and section 43 of the Data Protection Act 2018.

Scope, deliberately narrow. The site publishes no biography of living writers — no dates, health, family, private life or career history. → About this site

Sources: publishers’ pages, writers’ own sites, literary institutions and libraries. Nothing is gathered from private sources.

If you are named here and want an entry amended or removed, it will be done without argument and without your needing to give a reason. → Contact

Correspondence

If you write in, your message and contact details are processed in order to reply and, where relevant, correct a page. Kept only as long as needed; any resulting correction is recorded without your details.

Cookies and analytics

None. No cookies, no local storage, no pixels, no fingerprinting, no analytics, no tag manager, no social media widgets. Because no non-essential cookies are used, there is no consent banner and none is required.

No content is loaded from any other site — no external fonts, scripts, images or iframes.

If any of this changes, this page will be updated first.

This site links extensively to poets, publishers, journals, libraries and public bodies. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which are not this site’s responsibility.

Your rights

Readers: no records about you are held.

Writers named on the site: you may ask for an entry to be corrected, restricted or removed, and it will be. You do not need to invoke the GDPR; an email is enough.

You may also complain to a supervisory authority — in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission. → dataprotection.ie

Children

A general reference resource, not directed at children, collecting no data from anyone.
